With a multi-billion naira ethanol plant now completed, Euro Global Food and Distillers Limited, a subsidiary of Sona Group of Companies, is set to take its own destiny in its hands; the company will now depend less on imported raw materials and it will also be able to manufacture products with an even better quality.

The plant which took six years to construct is the largest single ethanol plant in Nigeria with a capacity to produce 120,000 litres of ethanol daily, more than Euro Global will require for its local production. That means the company could even export excess ethanol, the Chairman of the Ota based Company Arjan Mirchandani said.

The commissioning of the plant coincided with its Annual Distributors’ Forum, held at the premises of the company. The event offers the company an opportunity to appreciate top performers among its distributors and also keep them abreast of latest developments in the company as well as encourage them to put in an even better performance for the coming year.

According to Felix Aigbobahi, Sales Director, Euro Global Foods and Distillers Limited, the award which held on Saturday was for 2014 top performers, it ought to have held much earlier but had to be postponed because of some difficulties. The 2015 award is expected to hold in a couple of months, the company has announced.

Aigbobahi disclosed that though business was a bit dull in 2014 due to the political uncertainties that surrounded the general election but in 2015 business picked up again and the company was able to meet its business projections. “We are optimistic that 2016 will be a much better year because of some of the improvements we have introduced and new products we are launching,” he said.

The event attracted distributors from across the country. Thirty of the top distributors were honoured with certificates of recognition, gift items and cash for outstanding performances in volume sale as well as distribution of various Euro Global Products. The reward ranged from LED flat screen TV and cash prizes between N350 000 and N3million.

Mr Okolozo Jude Thaddeus of Golden Pillars Stores took home the ultimate prize of N3million and certificate of recognition. Incidentally Thaddeus also emerged the top honorees in 2014 when he took away an even bigger reward of N4.5million.

The company has assured distributors of a bigger profit margin as new products have been introduced to the Euro Global portfolio and subsisting ones have undergone a makeover to make them even more attractive. Euro Global is expected to be even more aggressive in its marketing as it plans to gain bigger market share in 2016.

During his short speech Mr. Mirchandani noted that over the years the company has launched new exciting array of brand into the market and it has also invested in packaging to enhance the brand equity of their products. “That is why brand Savanna is now more recognized,” he said.

“We have taken giant strides in the last few years, from increase in product portfolio to increase in the quality of our packaging. We want to assure our partners that we will make our product available to them,” the Chairman said.

Responding to the gesture of the Company, one of the big winners of the night Mr. Emma Okpata, owner of China Stores commended the company for the award and expressed optimism to 2016 will be a bigger year for Euro Global and the distributors.
